I make little effort to disguise my relative ambivalence regarding post-rock. I know most of the reasons why certain people like the genre, but I’ve never really felt attached to extended mid-tempo jams from guitar nerds as they geek out over the lush, ambient soundscapes they can create with their pedal boards. It’s not that I don’t like anthemic mood music, but after awhile, I understand why British and American punks revolted against the excesses of art-rock and prog back in the ‘70s. After awhile, the artistry and talent levels take a back seat to the driving passions of traditional rock.
