I thought about splitting the difference between a description of new-school folk music and minimalist electro-pop, but that would do a disservice to the elegant mezzo-soprano of Elena Tonra. So I then conjured up sundry parallels between Cat Power, Bat For Lashes, Cheyenne Marie Mize, St. Vincent, and The xx, but that would only permitted me to ignore the face value of the music itself. In the end, I decided that it would serve the best interests of the four songs on the His Young Heart EP if I engaged in some simple, plain talk regarding what I liked most about Daughter.
