Of course, there isn’t much that’s new left under the sun. The trick then is to confound people so completely by sneakily rework old concepts so that they’re almost unrecognizable. If we’ve learned anything from the past few years in the music scene, is that, with the advent of file-sharing technologies and the blogosphere, there are very few walls left separating genres. Oh sure, there are plenty of bands and music fans who happily remain ensconced in the safe little stylistic bomb shelters they’ve created for themselves, but I assure you, the musical apocalypse has already happened. It’s a whole new rock music world out there, and we’re all still trying to find our way.
