World’s Greatest Ghosts
No Magic

Despite the fact that some aspect of nearly every key trend in the indie rock from this decade can be located somewhere in the music of World’s Greatest Ghosts, I found it hard to dislike the band’s music. Maybe it’s the fact that this Portland, OR outfit is comprised of excellent musicians who are giddy with energy or the fact that I do enjoy many of the sounds cobbled together here, but I find No Magic to be infectious. It’s clean, catchy, upbeat dance rock with a post-post-punk bent, calling to mind acts like Bloc Party and The Rapture, but with a firm pop sheen reminiscent of Wolf Parade.
